The Friends of the Daviess County Public Library has begun its annual book sale, which will run through Oct. 5. The sale is normally is held for one day but has been extended to a week due to COVID-19 and to allow for social distancing.

Customers can purchase a bag for $5 dollars at the checkout counter and fill it up with as many books as it will hold. During this weeklong event carts will be located near the Kentucky Room in the library, and new carts will be added daily or while supplies last.

Funds will go to the Friends of the Daviess County Public Library. Those unable to participate in the book sale but still wishing to support the Friends can purchase an individual membership for $10 or a family membership for $20. Anyone who joins now will be entered to win one of three gift baskets.

The funds raised by the Friends go toward sponsoring programs and special events hosted by the Library.

“The Friends play a vital role in our ability to serve the community,” said Tiffani Henry, DCPL Public Relations Coordinator. “Often they help to provide funds that allow us to enhance the programs we host, and in some instances without their help we would not be able to host certain events or functions.”

Next month the Friends will be hosting a Halloween house decorating contest.

The Friends are members of the Daviess County community and surrounding areas devoted to promoting awareness of the library’s resources, providing funding for special projects of the library, and supporting the freedom to read.
