Kentucky state courts will not be opening anytime soon. On Tuesday, Chief Justice John Minton Jr. ordered they remain closed through May.

The Daviess County Circuit Clerk’s Office posted a reminder on Facebook they will continue to be open for emergencies only.

“No one is allowed in the building until further notice,” the post reads. “Emergencies include, but (are) not limited to, filing a Motion for Emergency Protection, filing a Motion for Emergency Guardianship or filing a Dependency, Neglect and Abuse Petition.”

The clerk’s office will continue its current 50/50 split staffing plan. The staff are working on two teams and are rotating on a one-week-on, one-week-off schedule.

Statutorily mandated and emergency hearings will still be heard by the Circuit and District Judges electronically.

Paperwork can be mailed to P.O. Box 277 or dropped off in the drop box located at 100 E. 2nd Street inside the Judicial Center.

By Executive Order of Governor Beshear, all issuance of driver licenses and identification cards have been suspended until further notice. The governor has granted a 90-day extension on the expiration date licenses.

Regarding Real ID, President Donald Trump has extended the deadline to October 2021.
