With heavy limitations due to the coronavirus, the demand for online grocery shopping has grown so much that delivery time slots are rapidly being taken and inventory isn’t always guaranteed.
“Due to increased demand, you may experience longer wait times, limited inventory, limited pickup time slots or delayed deliveries,” according to Kroger.
For some people, it might be faster to brave a visit to the grocery store to get groceries — but that is not an option for everyone.
To help meet everyone’s needs Shipt has introduced extended hours and implemented no-contact delivery drop-offs.
From ordering at the right time to choosing the right service, here are three tips that could help make ordering online easier:
Find different services:
Depending on location, certain services may be more popular than others. Instacart is a delivery service available in Owensboro, along with Shipt and services through individual stores. While Shipt’s website only has time slots available for two days out, Instacart has same-day delivery or next-day slots available. Navigate the websites and select different grocery stores such as Kroger or Meijer to find a better time slot.
Place orders after midnight:
Start checking for delivery times just after midnight. More time slots for delivery start opening up after midnight because these services reassess their resources and grocery stores also have time to restock.
Refresh the page:
Since it has become more difficult to find a delivery time because of high demands, another good tip is to refresh the grocery website throughout the day to find new time slots.
Lastly, be kind and remember to tip your delivery worker. Most of these contract workers rely on tips to make a living and are putting themselves on the front lines to make sure people get the food they need.
