Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued, Tornado Watch still in effect

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Daviess County as well as southeastern Henderson County and northern McLean County until 9:30 p.m. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 2:00 a.m. Sunday for western and northwestern Kentucky.

At 8:44 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Robards to near Providence, moving northeast at 60 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include Owensboro, Providence, Rockport, Calhoun, Sebree, Dixon, Whitesville, Robards, Knottsville and St. Joseph.

This includes the following highways: Interstate 165 between Mile Markers 60 and 70; Interstate 69 in Kentucky between Mile Markers 123 and 145, and Audubon Parkway between Mile Markers 6 and 23.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Remain alert for a possible tornado. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
