Jeremy Luckett of Owensboro has been hired as the full-time medical director for Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky.
Luckett previously served the organization as the medical director for their palliative care services, as well as an on-call physician for hospice care.
“We’ve seen increased growth in our programs, and know there are more in our community who need our care,” said Belinda Blair, Hospice and Palliative Care of Western KY CEO. “We brought two nurse practitioners on board last year in our palliative program, and we felt the next step was to hire a medical director that would oversee all of our service lines and have a much more dedicated role to serve the needs of our organization.”
Blair said she is excited about having Luckett as a full-time member of the team, as he has a passion for hospice patients, is already engaged in the palliative care program and is a great fit for the organization.
“Dr. Luckett is local – he knows us and he knows our community,” she said. “I’m thrilled he’s here, and that he’s so excited about this position. Dr. Luckett is a champion for hospice and for our organization. I really appreciate that.”
Luckett graduated from the University of Kentucky School of Medicine and completed his residency at Wake Forest University in Winston/Salem North Carolina. He moved to Owensboro in 2011 and currently also operates Vineyard Primary Care, a practice he began in 2015. He will continue in his practice there as he serves Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky.
Luckett also serves on the Board of Education of the Owensboro Public Schools and is also a member of the board of directors of the Goodfellows Club and St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter.
“I’m excited about increasing my role at Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky – being much more involved than I was previously – and helping the organization grow.” Luckett said. “I’m also looking forward to working with other providers in the community to ensure we offer the best hospice and palliative care to our patients and their families.”
