A Maceo man has been arrested and charged with multiple first-degree felonies, including rape and wanton endangerment.

Mark E. Redfern, 40, was arrested at 8:54 a.m. Monday and booked into the Daviess County Jail on charges of 1st degree wanton endangerment, 1st degree stalking, 1st degree rape, 1st degree possession of a controlled substance (meth), drug paraphernalia, 2nd degree criminal mischief and 4th degree assault.

According to a news release, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 10400 block of Kelly Cemetery Road — which is about 16 minutes northeast of Owensboro — for a welfare check.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they found Redfern and a woman, who told them she had been sexually and physically assaulted by Redfern.

The woman said Redfern discharged a firearm inside the residence, broke her cellphone, threatened her and followed her down the road with a handgun at a high rate of speed.

Deputies searched the home and a vehicle and seized a loaded handgun and ammunition as well as illegal  drugs and paraphernalia.
