Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Red, White and Blue event, presented by Big Rivers Electric Corporation, is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Oct. 29 on the Daviess County courthouse lawn.
Red, White and Blue is a non-partisan, family-friendly event. According to a Chamber press release, “the event strives to demonstrate to our community the importance of voting, providing an opportunity for our citizens to make educated voting decisions and to promote civic involvement on all levels.”
Red, White and Blue is a culmination of the Chamber’s GO Vote! Campaign, which encourages all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote.
“Red, White and Blue is a chance for the people in our community to meet the candidates in person and to hear their ideas and plans,” said Candance Castlen Brake, Chamber President and CEO. “The old-fashioned stump speech format on the courthouse lawn is a reminder of our roots. We expect a great crowd and encourage everyone in the community to participate.”
Red, White and Blue is an opportunity to meet the major party candidates for state offices and to hear from each about their positions and policy initiatives. Candidates for the positions of auditor of public accounts, state treasurer, commissioner of agriculture, secretary of state, attorney general and lieutenant governor are on the program.
The event begins promptly at 4:30 p.m. with the auditor of public accounts candidates.
The Fraternal Order of Police is sponsoring free food and drinks for the event.
