
Charles William McKay, 81, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday July 26, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on December 18, 1936, in Owensboro to the late Charles Elmo McKay and Rosie Cecilia Hurm McKay. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army. He attended St. Pius Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus. Charles was an avid fisherman and a Bar-B-Que Pitmaster. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and everyone he met.
Along with his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Suellen McKay; their son, Roger McKay; a sister, Phyllis McKay Crabtree Patterson; and a brother Danny McKay.
He is survived by his two sons, Shawn McKay of Hawesville, and Paul McKay of Maceo; three grandchildren, Shawna, Cole and Rebekah; three great-grandchildren, Kayson, Aubryona, and Olivia; nine siblings, Jody (Shirley) McKay, Ronnie (Connie) McKay, Bobby (Nancy) McKay, Tommy McKay, Mickey McKay, Steve (Marty) McKay, Marilyn (Bobby) Powers, Anita (Steve) Tooley and Carolyn Szetela; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 6:00 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, with Damon Smith officiating. Visitation will be held after 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
