Cedarhurst Senior Living, an assisted living facility, is set to open in Owensboro in the fall of 2020. Located on 16 acres on Pleasant Valley Road, the facility will have 56 assisted living apartments and 27 memory care apartments.

According to their website, “each resident is able to enjoy the independence they want and the care they need in the comfort of a home-like environment.”

Blake Hayden, the realtor who sold the land, said the deal started about 18 months ago when two companies said they were looking to bring an 80-bed senior facility to Owensboro.

After closing on the land about a month ago, Hayden said ground has been broken and construction should start soon. According to Hayden, seven acres are for the Cedarhurst facility, and the nine remaining acres will be developed into retail space.

Hayden said the deal was rewarding and he feels like this is a start of a second wave of new senior living facilities for Owensboro. He said the feel and look of Cedarhurst is something Owensboro doesn’t have currently.

“Not only is the proximity to the hospital important, but the area is growing,” Hayden said. “It’s right off the bypass people and I think we will see the second phase of development in-between Gateway Commons and the hospital development there. I think in five years this will have triggered a wave of development in the area.”

Cedarhurst of Owensboro has a goal to bring seniors together.

According to their website, they want to “foster a sense of community and connection between residents, caregivers, and staff.”
