Habitat for Humanity of Owensboro-Daviess County is getting ready for their annual fundraiser Banjos & Brunch on August 24.

This year’s theme is Dollars and Sense and honorees are the group’s first treasurer, Shirley Coppick, and its longest-serving treasurer, Martha Roberts.

Braswell said the money raised from this event will go to matching a grant as the group prepares to build their 141st Habitat home.

Virginia Braswell, Habitat’s executive director, said the fundraiser has been held almost every year for the last 25 years.

“There are many who look forward to coming every year,’ she said. “They want to hear the toe tapping music provided by Randy Lanham and Friends and they want to eat and enjoy the great southern brunch with ham, biscuits, sausage gravy, grits, cheese casserole, fresh fruit, fresh tomatoes, muffins and homemade cinnamon rolls.”

There will also be a silent and live auction with quilts, crafts and other items up for grabs.

The fundraiser is at Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, 4700 Kentucky 56. Tickets are $50 per person or $350 for a table of eight and are available by calling the Habitat office at 270-926-6110 by Aug. 21. Attendees may pay at the door. Checks can be mailed to Habitat for Humanity, 1702 Moseley St., Owensboro, KY 42303.
