
James Michael (Mike) Stone of Owensboro passed away Saturday, June 29th, 2019 surrounded by his caring family. He was born on September 16, 1958 in Atlanta, Georgia but grew up in Owensboro. He was proceeded in death by his father, Charles and his daughter, Emily. He is survived by his loving mother Jean, his eldest son Ben, his second born, Will and grandson, Zayne. Along with a brother, Steve (Ann) of Lexington, niece Kelsey and nephew Wesley, special friend Donna Ewing (Piper), and also an aunt, Nancy, and cousins Jeannene, Jennifer and Michelle.
Mike was extremely dedicated to his career as a Nurse Practitioner at River Valley Behavior Health, working tirelessly to help others be heard and understood. He devoted much of his time ensuring that he was doing all he could for those in need. He also was an Entrepreneur and previously owned several Kentucky retail fan shops in several cities in KY and TN. Mike was most proud when talking about his children or attending their games or performances. He was a loving father who constantly supported his children and encouraged them in all areas of their lives. He was a lover of Kentucky and OHS sports, Halloween costumes, his dog Scruffy, spicy food, Lic’s ice cream, Honda cars, and his co-workers. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, original catch phrases, and his comedic story telling accompanied by his sound effects and hand gestures. The word that defines Mike most was compassionate.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Third Baptist Church, Owensboro. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, KY. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Third Baptist Church.
