This summer, Sarah Yeckering from Saint Joseph in Daviess County is serving as an intern in the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) Promotion and Development Division in the department’s marketing office.
Her previous experience working with local farmers and farmers’ markets enables Yeckering to promote Kentucky Proud and Kentucky tourism.
“I love sharing the Kentucky Proud message and exploring the many sides of agriculture,” Yeckering said.
Yeckering is the daughter of Scott and Maggie Yeckering and is a 2017 graduate of Apollo High School in Owensboro.
“A KDA internship provides opportunities for students to gain real-world work experience and possibly even enter a career in public service,” Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles said. “I would like to thank Sarah for joining us at the Department this summer and hope she learns valuable skills during her time with us.”
Outside of her internship, she enjoys fishing, adventuring, and traveling throughout Kentucky, and spending time on the water. Headed into her junior year at Murray State University and majoring in marketing,
Yeckering is grateful for her agricultural roots and internship with the KDA, which will help prepare her for her career in agricultural marketing.
