Apollo shutout Hancock County, while Daviess County and McLean County both won. in other action, Owensboro fell short on the road.

Apollo 10, Hancock County 0

After a slow start by both teams, Apollo came alive in the middle innings to beat Hancock County 10-0. Ross Millburn and Gunnar Hendricks combined for four hits and four RBIs, while Jagger Pater and Grayson Smith both scored twice. Carter Kimmel threw a complete game shutout on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out six.

“I am very pleased with the way we performed tonight,” Apollo head coach Brandon Dennis said. “Carter Kimmel had a very strong outing and we were able to pull away in the later innings by being patient and string together some quality at bats.”

For the Hornets, Dylan Mucker had the team’s lone hit. Carson Clark started on the mound, allowing four earned runs over four innings, while Jacob Shultz pitched out of the bullpen.

Daviess County 11, Ohio County 1

Parker Wilson was lights out, allowing one earned run over six innings in the Panthers’ 11-1 win over Ohio County. Mason Russelburg and Sean Page drove in a pair of runs, while Noah Ranburger went 2-3 with an RBI.

“We pitched well and the bats came alive, which is good to see,” Daviess County head coach Austin Clay said. “Multiple guys found some barrels and really drove the ball. Parker Wilson competed well on the mound.”

McLean County 5, Henderson County 1

Houston Whitaker, Hayden Hudson, Jax Lee, Corbin Martin, and Ayden Rice all drove in runs in the Cougars’ 5-1 win over Henderson County. Hudson started on the mound, throwing 5 1/3 shutout innings with six strikeouts, allowing only one hit and walking four. Rice pitched out of the bullpen, allowing one run and striking out four.

“We played well tonight against a school five times our size,” McLean County head coach Darren Lynam said. “We executed really well at the plate and on the bases. Hayden Hudson was outstanding on the mound tonight, as was Ayden Rice in relief.”

Muhlenberg County 5, Owensboro 4

Trailing 5-3 in entering the top of the seventh, Owensboro cut the lead to one and advanced the tying run to third, but were unable to bring him home, losing to Muhlenberg County 5-4. Eli Hampton finished 2-4 with two RBIs, while Brady Benjamin and Will Rickard both drove in a run. Rickard allowed four earned runs over 4 2/3 innings, striking out three, while Will Hume pitched the last 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen.
