Local athletes Kennedy Thompson and Reagan Aldrich recently experienced major success at the Allstar World Championship (ASW) cheer competition. They performed with zero deductions and brought home gold medals.

Thompson is a seventh-grader at College View Middle School, and Aldrich is a fourth-grader at East View Elementary School.

The ASW competition, held in Orlando, features a multi-day format with preliminary, semifinal, and final rounds. Thompson’s and Aldrich’s team, Supreme Athletics Royalty, coached by Garrett Kimmel, finished the season undefeated.

Both girls started in tumbling classes at a young age before transitioning to competition cheer.

“The girls have been on the same teams for four years together,” said Jen Thompson, Kennedy’s mother. “This was their first season with Supreme Athletics Royalty. The girls each have their designated positions — Reagan is a flyer and Kennedy is a base.”

Kennedy said winning ASW “feels like an absolute dream — someone please pinch me.”

Reagan added, “The best part about cheer is everything, but definitely the friendships I’ve made.”

Supreme Athletics Royalty, located in Evansville, Indiana, took nine teams to ASW and brought back four gold medals, one silver, and one bronze — wrapping up a successful competition season.

“Their season started in November, and they traveled several times to competitions in Louisville, Nashville, and Columbus, Ohio,” Jen Thompson said. “Both teams ultimately finished the season undefeated with paid bids to Allstar Worlds in Orlando.”
