Lady Raiders fall to Livingston Central in All “A” Classic semi-finals

After finishing 2-1 in pool play of the All “A” Classic Softball Statewide Tournament, Trinity (Whitesville) took care of Wolfe County 8-3 in the quarterfinals, before losing to Livingston Central 6-0. Livingston Central went on to win the Championship, beating Ballard Memorial 12-0.

“I am extremely proud of the way the girls played this entire weekend,” Trinity (Whitesville) head coach Jessica Morris said. “They gave it everything they had.”

The Lady Raiders were unable to get to the Lady Cardinals’ Addison Tramble, with Kendall Howard, Aubree McKinney, and Lucy Hallmark having Trinity’s three hits. Livingston Central took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first due to a hit batter, an error, and an RBI single. The Lady Cardinals added runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to extend their lead to 6-0.

The Lady Raiders beat themselves at times, committing eight errors. Despite the defensive lapses, Ella Morris was lights out on the mound, allowing two earned runs over six innings, striking out eight. Sophie Hatfield pitched a scoreless seventh, striking out one.

In their win over Wolfe County, Kendall Howard went 1-3 with five RBIs, while Sophie Hatfield went 2-4 with two RBIs. Hatfield threw a complete game in the circle, allowing one earned run over seven innings, striking out seven.

Owensboro Catholic 13, Owensboro 12

In other action, the Lady Aces walked off Owensboro 13-12 in the eighth inning after Maren Riney scored on a bunt. Trailing 12-7 in the top of the seventh, Owensboro scored five runs to send it to extras, before Owensboro Catholic walked it off.

Riney finished 2-5 with two RBIs, while Carley Brey and Harper Latham combined for three hits and five RBIs. Railey Scott started in the circle, allowing three earned runs over six innings, striking out five. Abi Murphy pitched the last two innings in relief, allowing seven earned runs.

For the Lady Devils, Addison Hill, Hessi Johnson, and Ayrish Barksdale combined for nine hits and six RBIs, while Elli Embry went 2-5 with three RBIs. Alyssa Rhineburger started in the circle, allowing one earned run over five innings, while Braylee Criss pitched the last 2 1/3 innings in relief.
