Wendell Foster will host its Spring Yard Sale on May 2-3 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Young Building on its campus at 815 Triplett Street. The bi-annual event, organized by the nonprofit’s Recreation Department, raises funds to purchase Christmas and birthday gifts for residents.
The organization is currently accepting donations of gently used items to help stock the sale. Donations — excluding clothes and shoes — can be dropped off April 29 through May 1 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Young Building. Large items such as furniture and home decor are welcome, along with household goods, holiday items, and durable medical equipment.
“We started a two-day format for our yard sales last year to give more people the opportunity to shop,” said Jennifer Owsley-Midkiff, Director of Recreation at Wendell Foster. “These yard sales make it possible to purchase gifts to celebrate our residents on their birthdays and during the holidays, and we’re so grateful for the community for coming out to support each year.”
Owsley-Midkiff added that the sale offers a wide variety of unique and affordable items, including medical equipment that is often sought after by shoppers.
Lunch will also be available for purchase during the sale. For $7, shoppers can enjoy a hamburger or hot dog, chips, a cookie, and bottled water, with all proceeds going toward the Christmas and Birthday Fund.
