Wonder Whip is set to open a second location in Owensboro this summer, bringing its signature walk-up and drive-thru experience to 2600 Frederica Street — the former site of Bowen Tire.

Construction is already underway, with all design and building work being performed by local firms, according to Wonder Whip owner Seth Woodward.

The new location will mirror the original on KY 144, offering walk-up service, a drive-thru, and ample outdoor seating. The menu and pricing will remain consistent, though Woodward said the new location may open with a slightly streamlined version of the current offerings.

“When we made the decision to resuscitate the restaurant almost ten years ago on a wing and a prayer, we were simply hoping to keep the Wonder Whip legacy alive for future generations to enjoy,” Woodward said. “What ended up happening completely surpassed our wildest expectations. None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our community, which makes us so excited to see some new faces and make some new friends on Frederica.”

Woodward said the new location represents a significant investment and a desire to bring renewed energy to the area.

“We are making a big investment in Owensboro. We are hoping to inject some vibrancy and new vitality into that area,” he said. “We expect to hire approximately 50 people including management. We are encouraging anyone interested in working with us to visit wonderwhip.com/apply so that we can begin building our team.”

Wonder Whip has been a locally owned and operated hamburger and ice cream stand since 1955.
