Owensboro walked off Owensboro Catholic, while Apollo and Trinity (Whitesville) both won.
Owensboro 7, Owensboro Catholic 6
Trailing 6-4 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Devils’ Taylor Sowders singled home Hayley Sikes to walk off Owensboro Catholic 7-6. Elli Embry drove in a pair of runs, while Kaysi Burden, Alyssa Rhineburger, and Sikes combined for six hits and four RBIs. Rhineburger threw a complete game, allowing four earned runs over seven innings, striking out three.
“This marks two consecutive district wins,” Owensboro head coach Quincy Moorman said. “We hadn’t beaten Catholic since 2014. The girls were resilient, and there is no giving up in this group. We have fallen behind several times this season, but these girls continue to fight. Two walk-off wins in consecutive games after falling behind by multiple runs.”
For the Lady Aces, Hannah Tignor drove in a pair of runs, while Addilyn Simmons went 1-2 with two RBIs. Railey Scott allowed six earned runs over 6 2/3 innings, striking out six.
Apollo 7, Evansville Mater Dei 6
Arianna Ramriez went 2-3 with three RBIs in the E-Gals 7-6 win over Evansville Mater Dei. Tyler Hall drove in a pair of runs, while Isabella Feldpausch and Abie Butterworth both had two hits. Hannah Holder started in the circle, allowing three earned runs over four innings, while Mollie Julian threw three shutout innings in relief.
“We played well. We let them come back, but we were able to shut them down over the last three innings,” Apollo head coach Stephen Julian said. “We swung the bat well up and down the lineup. Sydney Stallings and Arianna Ramirez had big nights at the plate.”
Trinity (Whitesville) 7, Edmonson County 6
Trailing 6-2 in the top of the fifth, the Lady Raiders scored five runs to beat Edmonson County 7-6. Sophie Hatfield went 1-3 with three RBIs, while Ella Morris, Kendall Howard, and Lucy Hallmark combined for four hits and four RBIs. Hatfield started in the circle, allowing five earned runs over three innings, while Morris pitched in relief.
