
Larry Lindsey, 72 of Rockport, Kentucky passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Deaconess Gateway Newburgh. Larry was born October 18, 1952 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Otis and Juanita Saling Lindsey.
As a young man, Larry worked for Mohamp Service Station before going to work for Peabody Coal Company. Larry retired after 23 ½ years at Peabody, where he worked at Alston 4, Camp 11 and Martwick mines. He was a former member of Rockport Masonic Lodge #312 F&AM and a current member of Centertown Masonic Lodge #714 F&AM. Larry was also a member of UMWA #9800, labor local #1392 and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed family gatherings, being outdoors, helping others and his friends that were more like family.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Terry, Cameron, Dennie and Oscar Lindsey and one sister, Kay Poyner.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, the love of his life and wife of over 53 years, Betty Miller Lindsey of Rockport, Kentucky; sons, Ronnie (Letitia) Lindsey of Rockport, Indiana, Tim (Heather) Canary of Jamestown, Tennessee; daughter, Stephanie (Ronnie) Ashburn of McHenry; grandchildren, Jessica Thomas, Misty Drone, Cody Sloan, Bethany Osborne, Tyler Flener and Dylan Ashburn; great grandchildren, Kinley, Keaton, Abbey, River, Connor, Elliot, Shawn, Addie, Audrey and Carter, who will be here soon; brother, Frank (Faye) Lindsey of Girard, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; very special friends, Pete and Brenda Gossett, Bill Reed and his extended family, Mike and Carol Campbell and so many others.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 24 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Lealin Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery. Friends may visit with Larry’s family from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and from 9 A.M. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Masonic Rites Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
