Springs Urgent Care has officially relocated after more than two decades at The Springs Health Centre. Their new spot is at 4551 Springhill Drive off KY 54.
In 2022, Owensboro Health acquired The Springs Health Centre, which has since been renamed the Owensboro Healthplex. Officials with Springs Urgent Care said their lease was not renewed, prompting the move.
“We got lucky with the new spot,” said Randy Seidehamel, PA-C and partner at Springs Urgent Care. “Strive had moved out in February, and this place sat vacant for about a year. It was originally set up almost like a mini-ER, which made it perfect for us.”
Seidehamel said Springs Urgent Care officially signed the lease for the new location in January and opened its doors to patients this month. He said the new space features several enhancements, including improved parking, enhanced accessibility, updated wiring, a modern fire and security system, nurse call buttons in every room, and dimmable lighting to better accommodate patients with migraines or other light-sensitive conditions.
“Our patient flow is much better here,” Seidehamel said. “Even though we were at a busy intersection, the entrances and exits are laid out better, and patients seem to appreciate it.”
While the clinic’s new X-ray machine is already on site, Seidehamel said it could take 3-6 months to obtain the necessary permits and complete the room renovations to make it operational.
Springs Urgent Care primarily treats minor illnesses and injuries such as cuts, scrapes, broken bones, and back pain. More serious conditions, such as head injuries or complicated abdominal pain, are typically referred to a hospital emergency department.
Seidehamel emphasized that staying on the east side of Owensboro was a strategic choice, given their established patient base across east Daviess County, including Whitesville, Philpot, Fordsville, and surrounding areas.
“We’re just 1.8 miles from the old location, but it makes a big difference for patients who want to avoid traffic congestion on 54,” he said.
Angela Sands, a longtime staff member at the clinic, said the new facility has been well-received by patients.
“The new building is beautiful and updated with everything we need for better patient flow,” Sands said. “We’re excited to continue serving our community from this location.”
Springs Urgent Care is staffed by familiar faces, including Seidehamel and Nathan Gish, APRN, along with a team of experienced medical professionals, many of whom have backgrounds in emergency rooms or intensive care units, Seidehamel said.
The clinic accepts all major insurance providers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Affairs (VA) insurance. It is open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., offering services such as drug screenings, Department of Transportation physicals, minor surgical procedures, weight loss management including semaglutide injections, and more. No appointment is necessary.
“We’ve been part of the community for over 21 years,” Sands said. “This new chapter allows us to continue growing and meeting the needs of our patients.”
