Daviess County shutout Owensboro Catholic, while Hancock County beat Apollo. In other action, Trinity (Whitesville) and Owensboro both won.
Hancock County 7, Apollo 5
The Lady Hornets scored four runs in the bottom of the first and held off a late Apollo surge to win 7-5. Aubree Mosby went 2-4 with an RBI, while Ava Riggs drove in two runs. Madyson Higdon, Jordyn Waltrip, and Audrey Carnes combined for three of the team’s six RBIs. Bella Bryant threw a complete game, allowing five earned runs over seven innings, while striking out three.
For Apollo, Arianna Ramirez went 3-3 with an RBI, while Tyler Hall drove in two runs. Hannah Holder started in the circle, allowing five earned runs over 3 1/3 innings, while Mollie Julian threw the last 2 2/3 innings in relief.
Daviess County 15, Owensboro Catholic 0
Annie Newman, Briley Henry, and Sadie Morris all homered to power the Lady Panthers past Owensboro Catholic 15-0. The trio combined for seven hits and seven RBIs, while Molly Hancock went 2-3 with two RBIs. Sophia Cain threw a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit over four innings, while striking out five and walking one.
“The tone was set in the top of the first with an outstanding catch by Shelby Bennett in centerfield,” Daviess County head coach John Biggs said. “We were patient at the plate and put a lot of balls in play. Sophia did a nice job of mixing her pitches.”
Tyranda Stuart had the Lady Aces’ lone hit, while Railey Scott and Lily Medley both pitched.
Owensboro 8, Grayson County 6
Alyssa Rhineburger finished 4-5 with three RBIs to lead the Lady Devils to a 8-6 win over Grayson County. She also pitched a complete game, allowing five earned runs over seven innings, striking out three. Taylor Sowders and Kaysi Burden each drove in a pair, while Hessi Johnson went 3-4 with an RBI.
Trinity (Whitesville) 13, Breckinridge County 2
Sarah Payne went 2-3 with four RBIs in the Lady Raiders’ 13-2 win over Breckinridge County. Sophie Hatfield made her presence felt on both sides, driving in five runs and throwing a complete game. Madison McDaniel finished 3-4 with an RBI, while Aubrey Millay and Kendall Howard both had hits.
