The Gifted Apple is opening its first brick-and-mortar location on Saturday, offering a curated selection of unique gifts and hard-to-find items in Owensboro. For owner Ginny Ball, it’s the realization of a lifelong dream—and one she’s sharing with her daughter, Brooklyn.
“This has been a lifelong dream for us,” Ball said. “Late last year, I started talking with my daughter, Brooklyn, and discussing the desire to make 2025 our year for fulfilling our dreams and doing ‘hard things.’ I wanted to teach her that there is no dream too big or too small to chase if you first pray about it and then put the necessary time and effort into it.”
The Gifted Apple carries items for every occasion, including birthdays, sympathy gifts, holidays, and everyday “just because” moments. They also stock a selection of accessories and clothing, though Ball said that’s not the store’s main focus.
“We are fueled by a passion to really build our brand and develop relationships with customers,” she said. “We want to be a place where people come to see us or call us when they need something. We want to get to know what the customers would like to see and offer products that bring joy to their lives.”
The mother-daughter duo set out to bring their vision to life, combining their love of thoughtful gifts with a desire to create a welcoming, family-centered business.
“My mother has always been a very thoughtful gift giver,” Ball said. “I wanted to offer products that allow for thoughtful giving or just unique finds for anyone who enjoys shopping. Our family enjoys shopping as just a chance to be together, and we wanted to offer that to others as well.”
As they prepare to open the storefront, Ball said she’s keeping her focus on what matters most — family, hard work, and creating something meaningful.
“I am most excited to teach Brooklyn the value of hard work and fulfilling a personal drive to accomplish something,” she said. “We have taught ourselves everything so far and have learned through reading, research, and trial and error. There are so many things to learn by taking risks and trying something new.”
Looking ahead, Ball hopes The Gifted Apple will become a go-to destination for meaningful gifting. Though they have big dreams, she said they’re letting the journey guide them.
“We absolutely love this community and the people in it,” Ball said. “After traveling recently out of state, I was reminded of what a great community we live in, and I cannot think of a better place to get the opportunity to do this.”
The Gifted Apple is located inside Savi Salon & Suites in Suite 12. Store hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursdays 4-7 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
“We are also available by phone or website every day and can meet customers just about anytime,” Ball said. “We also offer customized gift baskets for any occasion and offer local delivery in the Owensboro area.”
