Edward R. Crabtree, 72, of Reynolds Station, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Owensboro Health, with his family by his side, holding his wife’s hand. Ed was born on June 3, 1952 in Daviess County to the late Zeffie L and Catherine Bickett Crabtree. Ed retired from General Glass, but he never stopped building. Ed was a tinkerer. He enjoyed creating, fixing, and working with his hands. Ed was a maker. As the owner of Echo Glass, thousands of buildings (homes, businesses and schools) hold pieces of glass cut by his hands. Many people peer through windows he installed and into mirrors he mounted and they will never know it was placed by Ed Crabtree. Light is shining on many of us right now as a result of his mind and labor. The Apollo High School dome area is a project of which he was particularly proud.
He was the epitome of a good man. He was loving, caring, kind, and hardworking. No one who knew him could disagree with any of these qualities to describe him. He was always happy to help anyone with anything they needed.
He loved his family, and was a grandfather, father and husband who was dearly loved. He cherished the moments he spent with his family and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to play chess. His love and wisdom will be carried with so many of us for the rest of our lives.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by a son Mark Crabtree; Sister, Ann Marie (Joe) Fulkerson; Brothers, Darrell Crabtree and Sherman Crabtree.
Ed is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rearden Crabtree and children, Charles and Dan (Jenny) Crabtree, Brad (Amy) and Eric (Kristi) Stiff; grandchildren, Kristin (Jake) Marksberry, DJ Crabtree, Garrett Crabtree, Luke, Melody, Henry, Samuel and Charles Stiff; brother Dennis (Margaret) Crabtree, Sister, Darlene Crabtree, Sister-in-law Carmie Crabtree Lutgring and several nieces and nephews.
