Robert Leon Haynes, 78, of Philpot, passed away at Owensboro Health on Tuesday, April 7, 2025. Leon was born in Daviess County on June 1, 1946 to the late James Daniel and Edith Wootton Haynes. Leon was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed watching westerns, drinking cokes and smoking cigarettes, gardening and yardwork but mostly spending time with his daughter.
In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his son, Robbie Haynes, siblings, Danny, Kenny, Johnny, Frankie and Agnes Ann Haynes, Patsy Oelze and sisters-in-law Janie, Gail and Tina Haynes.
Leon is survived by his daughter, Maebeth Haynes, siblings Ida Mae (Gary) Howard, Carol (David) Oelze, Billy (Donna) Haynes, Mike Haynes, Tom Haynes, Roger (Linda) Haynes and Larry (Debbie) Haynes and in-laws, Danny Oelze, Brenda Haynes and Sandra Haynes and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. William Church in Philpot, KY with burial following at St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, KY.
