Peggy Jean Douglas, 95, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born September 17, 1929 to the late Henry Blanton Hooks and Velma Lambert Hooks. Peggy had worked as a registered nurse at Owensboro Daviess County Hospital and then Our Lady of Mercy Hospital and was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Max Douglas, Sr.; son, Gaylon Gene Douglas; brother, William Gerald Hooks; and a grandson, John Walker Douglas.
She is survived by three sons, Max Taylor Douglas Jr. (Peggy), Blanton Gerald “Jerry” Douglas (Angela), and Mark Steven Douglas (LaDonna); grandchildren, Catherine J. Felts (Ken), Aaron Douglas (Amy), Sarah Vance (Kevin), Josiah Douglas (Marcy), Andrew Douglas, Samuel Douglas (Desiree), Noah B. Douglas, Krysten Douglas (Cory Noel), Taylor Douglas, and Garrett Douglas (Allison); 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
