
Jequeta Evelyn “Squeakie” English Barnes, 64, of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at her home on April 1, 2025. Born on August 20, 1960, in Springfield, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Wayne English and Grace Wilma Scott-Griffith. Squeakie was a creative soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for sewing, crafting, and cultivating beauty in her surroundings, particularly through her vibrant garden filled with colorful blooms. A lover of the outdoors, she spent many peaceful hours fishing and watching the birds, finding comfort in nature’s rhythms.
In addition to her parents, Squeakie was preceded in death by her daughter, Jequeta Evelyn Lee; siblings, Kenneth Wayne English, Charles Edwin English, William “Buddy” English, and Jonnie English Ward; and grandparents, William Robert and Alcyon Scott and Bloomer and Edra English.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Crystal G. Thompson and Wilma Rose Vanveer; siblings, Amanda Gilstrap, Grace English, Bobbie Jo Vilalba, and Mark English; grandchildren, William Parker, Autumn Thompson, Steven Thompson, Ariel Lee, Diamen Lee, Angel Lee, and Dre’Anna Lee; four great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members.
