Courtland "Joe" Colburn

Courtland “Joe” Colburn, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025 at his son’s home in Knottsville. He was born April 29, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Wilbert Austin Colburn and Mary Helen Stringer Colburn. Joe served in the Navy and later in Army Reserve for a total of 27 years. He was a minister for 52 years and the last 16 years he was at Deanfield Baptist Church. Joe had worked for the Owensboro Public School System.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Brenda Kay Colburn; and brothers, Bryan Colburn, Steven Colburn, and Gary Colburn.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Jarrett Colburn; four daughters; Cammie Johnson of Owensboro, Jane Donahue and husband, David, of Gatlinburg, TN, Joy Kay Raymond and husband, Michael, of Utica and Amber Colburn of Owensboro; two sons, Thomas Colburn and wife, Kristie, of Knottsville and Jason Colburn and wife, Meggan, of Island; 23 grandchildren, Kailee Colburn, Garrett Colburn (Hannah), Gavin Colburn (Cas), Graycen Colburn, Jordan Colburn (Logan), Andrew Colburn, Hunter Cambron, Brendan Bullington, Alaina Bullington, Parker Johnson (Lexy), Joseph Kaleb Stofer (Lilly), Kristen Kay Jones, Carter Stofer, Katie Brown (Lee), Megan Foster (Justin), Allison Raymond, Megan Boywid (Michael), Haley Donahue, Candace McClish (Michael), Cynthia Donahue, David N. Donahue, Cameron Donahue, and Colton Donahue; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Robert Colburn (Pat) and Mike Colburn; sisters, Jean Payne (Larry) and Sheila Short; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
