Owensboro pulled off a stunning walk off, while Trinity (Whitesville) took care of business. In other action, both Hancock County and McLean County lost.
Meade County 12, Hancock County 2
A five run fifth inning doomed the Lady Hornets, losing to Meade County 12-2. Aubree Mosby led the way with two hits, while Bella Bryant and Ansley House added one hit each. Bryant started on the mound, allowing seven earned runs over 3 2/3 innings, with three strikeouts, while Jordyn Waltrip allowed two earned runs over 2/3 of an inning.
Ohio County 17, McLean County 2
The Lady Cougars took an early 1-0 lead, but had no answer for Ohio County late, falling 17-2. Ava McCarty finished 2-2 with an RBI, while Shelby Rickard also added two hits. McCarty started the game on the mound, allowing six runs over one innings, while Macie Gael allowed 11 runs in relief.
Owensboro 13, Union County 12
Trailing 8-0 early and then 12-9 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Devils walked off Union County 13-12 in thrilling fashion. Alyssa Rhineburger finished 3-5 at the plate with five RBIs, while Hayley Sikes, Ellington Embry, Kaysi Burden, and Ayrish Barksdale combined for six hits and eight RBIs. Rhineburger pitched a complete game, allowing one earned run across seven innings, with two strikeouts.
“I am very proud of the girl’s heart and grit,” Owensboro head coach Quincy Moorman said. “Falling behind 8-0 is tough to overcome. They stayed in the game, battled back a little at a time, and never quit. Alyssa Rhineburger continued to grind it out on the mound. One earned run against a team that hits the ball like Union County is special.”
Trinity (Whitesville) 12, Muhlenberg County 1
Sarah Payne finished 4-4 with two RBIs and a homer to power the Lady Raiders to a 12-1 win over Muhlenberg County. Sophie Hatfield finished 2-4 with four RBIs, while Aubree McKinney, Ella Morris, and Emersyn Beyke combined for three hits and four RBIs. Madison McDaniel, Kendall Howard, and Lucy Hallmark had the team’s six other hits. Hatfield threw a complete game, allowing one earned run over five innings, striking out four.
