Dorothy Simmons Squires, age 81 of Hardinsburg, KY, passed away March 19, 2025, at Norton Audubon Hospital. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on August 24, 1943, daughter of the late Herman and Pauline Roberts Simmons. Dorothy retired from Southern States Co-op where she was the office manager as well as many other duties. She was well liked by not only her co-workers, but the many customers she served. She attended Cloverport Community Church. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, playing games – especially Yahtze and Dominos and cooking. She loved her family and time spent with them. She received great pleasure when she could spoil her nieces, nephews and their families and loved them like they were her children and the feeling was mutual.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dean Squires; her siblings James Simmons, Emmett Simmons, Mary McFelia, Jean Belcher, Ruth Tucker and Shirley Wimberly.
Dorothy is survived by 1 brother – Darrell Simmons (Vicky) of Owensboro, KY
2 sisters – Sandra Simmons of Hardinsburg, KY and Lois Carwile (Rudy) of Westview, KY
Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 2 PM with burial in the McQuady Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Monday. All times are central.
