Hosting Hancock County, Apollo tennis split, with the E-Gals winning 9-0 and the Hornets winning 8-1.
For the E-Gals, Sami Ebelhar, Adelyn Dilback, Anna Dilback, Ruthie Layson, and Hser Moo all won their singles matches. The doubles teams of Morgan Shook and Scout Carroll and Eh Skitter and Annie Halbig also both won.
“We were able to play our first years and lower varsity members, and I am really proud of all of them,” Apollo head coach Janie Walther said.
For the Hornets, Lucas Anderson, Alex Madden, Tyce Boling, Caleb Ewing, Tre London, and Van Reska all won their singles matches. The doubles teams of Madden and Boling, Anderson and Tre Condon, and Van Reska and Payne Pence all won.
“I thought the boys competed well, but we need more killer instincts at times,” Hancock County head coach Dan Hopkins said. After four matches, we should be getting past game jitters. Alex is still rounding into shape, and this was a good win for Lucas. The girls struggled a bit, but our top doubles team competed well. I am proud of them.”
