
Willie “Carl” Richards, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday February 23, 2025, at Thomson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY. He was born November 18, 1942, in Easton, KY, to the late Charles T. Richards and Bessie Eva Falls Richards.
Carl proudly served in the United States Army and was a machine operator at Domtar Paper Company in Hawesville, KY. He collected hats, enjoyed sail boats and listening to country music, and loved a good home cooked meal and his family.
Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Richards Hughes; 3 sisters, Dorothy Richards, Lula Mae Richards, and Norman Jean Evans; and 4 brothers, Charles Curtis Richards, Glen Donald Richards, John Clifford Richards, and Edward Lee Richards.
Carl is survived by a son, Carl Wayne Richards; a grandson, James Hughes; granddaughter, Francisca Maria Kidd; 3 sisters, Alice Josephine (CJ “Lucky”) Stamps, Marlene Cidelle (John) Wheatley, and Wilma Anne (Steve) Wells; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Carl Richards will be at 12 p.m. Saturday March 1, 2025, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Dennis McFadden officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. The burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
