Margaret “Louise” Stewart Chaney, 85, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at her home. She was born September 29, 1939 in Utica, KY to the late Robert Oscar Daugherty and Anna Mae Gootee Daugherty. Louise had worked at Rite Aid Pharmacy as a manager and was a member of One Faith Fellowship. She loved going to flea markets and yard sales. Louise never met a stranger and would always ask people “Are you a Christian and do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord?” She loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Howard Chaney; siblings, Mary Catherine Bayles, Robert Eugene Daugherty, Lelia Ward Merritt, Betty Lee Estes, and Danny Francis Daugherty.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Embry (Dennis); son, Keith Wayne Stewart; eight grandchildren, Thomas (Persy), Cody (Bethany), Stormy (Amber), Shannon, Rebecca, Shawnee, Cheyenne, and Lakota; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Ann Moore; a special niece, Sandy Ball; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Niki.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
