Hosting the Sothern Youth Travel Hockey League 12U Year End Tournament, the Owensboro Rampage advanced to the playoffs after finishing 1-1 in the group stage. They play the Atlanta Fire at 7:15 am, with the winner advancing to the championship.
In their opener, the Rampage shutout the Atlanta Ice Bandits 7-0, but fell to the Columbus Jr. Cottonmouths in their second game 6-3.
“The Cottonmouths came out to play this evening despite our attempts to shut them down, but our kids played hard,” Owensboro Rampage head coach Mike Aldrich said. “Tomorrow starts a new day and this evening’s game should have been the wakeup our boys need to get back on track.”
In other action, the Cottonmouths finished 2-0 after beating the Atlanta Ice Bandits 9-0. The Atlanta Fire finished 2-0 after beating the Nashville Preds Select 2-1 and Birmingham Bulls 3-2. The Bulls finished 1-1 after beating the Nashville Preds Select.
