Three men from Florida were arrested Monday night in Owensboro after police discovered illegal drugs including cocaine in their vehicle and motel room, according to law enforcement officials.
According to a release from OPD, at approximately 7:30 p.m. on February 17, patrol officers responded to a drug complaint at Motel 6 in Owensboro. Upon arrival, officers identified a vehicle in the parking lot matching the description provided in the complaint.
“Officers developed probable cause, and a subsequent search of the vehicle led officers to the discovery of cocaine and marijuana,” the release says. “A K9 officer along with patrol officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the suspect’s room and located two more suspects in the room and evidence of drug trafficking, suspected ecstasy and marijuana.”
Three individuals from Fort Pierce, Florida, were arrested on the following charges:
Alexander Modestin, 28
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Cocaine)
- Trafficking in Marijuana, 1st Offense (Less than 8 Ounces)
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance – 1st Degree, 1st Offense (10 or More Dosage Units, Unspecified Drug)
- Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
Vernon Evans, 28
- Trafficking in Marijuana, 1st Offense (Less than 8 Ounces)
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (10 or More Dosage Units, Unspecified Drug)
- Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
Whenly Borgelat, 32, Fort Pierce, Florida
- Trafficking in Marijuana, 1st Offense (Less than 8 Ounces)
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (10 or More Dosage Units, Unspecified Drug)
- Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
All three suspects were taken into custody and lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
