Daviess County, McLean County, Owensboro, and Trinity (Whitesville) all won on Saturday, while Owensboro Catholic lost.
Daviess County 70, Bethlehem 59
The Lady Panthers won their sixth straight after beating Bethlehem 70-59. Zoey Beehn led the way with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Lily Hoagland added 18 points. Riley Hayden was third on the team in scoring with 13 points.
“I am so proud of this team. Everyone stepped up and contributed on both ends of the floor,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “It was a total team effort. Lily Hoagland and Zoey Beehn were warriors all night. Molly Hancock did a great job of taking care of the ball and locking down defensively. Maddie Barron and Riley Hayden hit big shots when we needed it. Mack Elliot was solid on the glass. I am a proud coach, and we earned this one.”
McLean County 56, Russellville 34
Karlee Floyd scored 12 of her team-high 23 points in the first quarter to power the Lady Cougars to a 56-34 win over Russellville. Kenadi Level added 14 points and Ella Larkin was third on the team in scoring with eight points.
“The girls played hard on defense, were great in transition, and forced a lot of turnovers,” McLean County head coach Eli Ellis said.
Owensboro 59, Bardstown 46
Heleina John exploded for a team-high 12 points and 12 rebounds to power the Lady Devils to a 59-46 win over Bardstown. Shalyn Sprinkles and Keeley Harris both added nine points, while Gizelle Whitlock and Abby Sapp each added six points.
“Heleina played her best overall game. 12 rebounds and a handful of blocks to go with her 27 points was very impressive,” Owensboro head coach Jansen Locher said. “I was happy with our defense for three quarters, but this team is starting to gel at the right time.”
Assumption 63, Owensboro Catholic 47
Playing on the second night of a back-to-back, Owensboro Catholic lost to Assumption 63-47. Riley Karmin hit four threes to go along with her 16 points, while Aubrey Randolph scored 11 of her 16 points in the first half. Allie Marston was third on the team in scoring with nine points and Katie Hagan and Taylor Mannahan both added three points.
Credit to Assumption because they hit shots and beat us off the dribble today,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “We looked lethargic at the beginning. We were really never able to get into a rhythm.”
Trinity (Whitesville) 49, Muhlenberg County 46
The Lady Raiders beat Muhlenberg County 49-46 to snap a five-game losing streak. Sophie Hatfield led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Ella Morris hit three threes to go along with her 11 points. Sarah Payne was third on the team in scoring with 10 points.
“The girls competed for 32 minutes. They played defense and finished with a box out on most possessions for 32 minutes,” Trinity (Whitesville head coach Emily Hernandez said. “They worked together defensively to contest shots the majority of the game. They also worked together to get a good shot on the majority of possessions. They continue to move in the right direction as we move toward post season play.”
