It was a productive night for the local schools as Daviess County, Owensboro, and Owensboro Catholic all won.
Daviess County 70, Madisonville-North Hopkins 53
The Lady Panthers picked up their fourth straight win after beating Madisonville-North Hopkins 70-53. Kennedy Lane led the way with 26 points, two rebounds, and one steal, while Zoey Beehn recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Lily Hoagland added 15 points, seven rebounds, one block, and one steal.
“We were very balanced in a lot of ways,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “We did a great job of moving the ball and making the extra pass. We did a great job containing Riley Sword in the second half. She had 13 points in the first half and three points in the second.”
Owensboro 65, Lyon County 50
A night after beating Breckinridge County, Owensboro beat Lyon County at home 65-50. Shalyn Sprinkles led the way with 21 points, while Gizelle Whitlock scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half. Heleina John was third on the team in scoring with 14 points.
“We got a great defensive effort tonight from the entire team”, Owensboro head coach Jansen Locher said. “I was worried about our focus after playing a tough game last night, but the girls put together a great effort. It looked sloppy at times, but that’s our style of play. I’m proud of our girls and hopefully we continue to get better as we prepare for the district tournament.”
Owensboro Catholic 55, Bowling Green 40
With one of their top scorers Karmin Riley out, the Lady Aces Taylor Mannahan led the way with 14 points in their 55-40 win over Bowling Green. Katie Hagan added 12 points, while Layla Martin hit two threes.
“I thought we played hard,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “Aubrey did a lot of good things on the defensive end and played really well. Taylor and Katie scored well for us in the second half and Sophia was big on the glass.”
