Update: Flavors of India will now open on Friday, February 21, one day later than expected due to inclement weather.
Owensboro residents will soon have a new dining option, as Love Singh is preparing to launch a food truck named Flavors of India, offering authentic Indian cuisine with a variety of traditional dishes.
The truck is set to open on February 20 and will be stationed at 2335 Frederica Street, across from Walgreens.
Singh, who has lived in Owensboro for nine years and owns a local gas station, said the idea for the food truck stemmed from community feedback.
“I’ve heard from many people that Owensboro doesn’t have enough Indian food options,” Singh said. “So I decided to open this food truck, and if everything goes well, I hope to continue to grow and expand.”
Singh will operate the truck alongside his wife and an additional staff member. The menu will feature a range of dishes, including curries, biryanis, and traditional appetizers like samosas and pakoras. He said all curries will come with free rice, and customers can expect to find both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, such as Chicken Curry, Goat Biryani, and Paneer Butter Masala.
Customers will be able to place orders via phone, with pickup options available. Singh also plans to partner with delivery services like DoorDash and Uber Eats to expand access to the menu.
For the first month, the truck will remain at the Frederica Street location before possibly rotating to different spots or local events around Owensboro.
Singh said he is excited to share his culture’s cuisine with the Owensboro community and has already received positive feedback from those eager to try the food.
“I think the community will really enjoy it,” Singh said. “A lot of people have been asking for more Indian food, and I’m happy to bring that to Owensboro.”
