It was a suffocating defensive effort from start to finish from Daviess County’s girls’ basketball team – dominating Union County 61-26. They allowed only 14 first-half points and held Union to one basket in the fourth quarter.
Kennedy Lane led the way with 15 points and three rebounds, while Zoey Beehn recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds, with two steals. Riley Hayden went 2-2 from deep to go along with her 12 points, three rebounds, and one steal. Lily Hoagland was the team’s fourth double-digit scorer (11) adding two boards and two steals. Molly Hancock (5), Maddie Barron (3), and Mackenzie Elliot (2) rounded out the team’s scoring.
“We had four players finish in double-digits, and it was a very balanced offensive night,” Daviess County head coach Natalie Payne said. “Molly Hancock played lockdown defense and she was all over the floor creating havoc. Her energy is contagious.”
Next up for the Lady Panthers, they host Apollo Friday at 5:30 pm.
