Retail stores Buckle and Boot Barn appear to be coming to Gateway Commons, according to building permits obtained Wednesday by Owensboro Times.

According to the documents, building permits have been issued to construct shells for both retail stores. The permits show that Buckle will be located at 2472 Calumet Trace, with Boot Barn next door at 2476.

That would place them directly next to Five Below, which currently anchors the north end of the main retail center in Gateway Commons. They would also be near the recently announced new location for Publix Super Markets, which is going in the northwest corner of Pleasant Valley Road and Hayden Road (across from TownePlace Suites Owensboro, just north of the multi-unit centers already in Gateway Commons).

Buckle is an American fashion retailer selling clothing, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children. Boot Barn is an American retailer that specializes in Western wear, cowboy boots, workwear, home decor, and other outdoor recreation merchandise.

The permit for the Buckle store shows the shell will be 6,000 square feet, with a construction cost of $780,000.

The permit for the Boot Barn store shows the shell will be 10,000 square feet, with a construction cost of $1,300,000.

The properties are owned by Gateway Retail Partners III and is currently listed by Gulfstream Commercial Services. The primary contractor listed on both permits is Envision Contractors, LLC.

Gulfstream officials declined to comment.
