The Daviess County Public Library is gearing up for its fourth annual Black History Month Art Show and is seeking local submissions — whether that be paintings, sculptures, or works in other mediums.
Applications and art will be accepted through January 31. Art will be displayed on the south side of the second floor through the end of February. Applications are available at the second-floor information desk.
Due to limited space, paintings can be no larger than 30×30 inches, while sculptures and other dimensional art should be no larger than 24x24x24 inches. Artists can enter no more than two works of art. Material depicting overtly violent or sexual themes will not be displayed.
The library will host a closing ceremony to honor participating artists on February 27 from 6-7 p.m. This event is open to the public. The ceremony will include a speech from The Rev. Rhondalyn Randolph, a fashion show coordinated by local artist Leeza Dukes, and food.
Artists will be responsible for picking up their art by March 7. Any unclaimed art will not be stored due to space restrictions.
