SOFTBALL RECAPS
Owensboro Catholic 7, Jasper 1
South Warren 5, Owensboro Catholic 2
The Lady Aces (15-11) split a pair of games as hosts of a three-way round robin to close out the season.

Catholic started with a win against Jasper, and a two-run homer by Isabelle Henning helped them build a 4-0 lead. Jasper scored once in the sixth inning before Catholic added three more in the bottom of the frame.

Taylor Dukate had two hits, while Danielle Henning and Bailey Simone each scored twice. Hadley Phelps went six innings in the win, allowing an unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts.

Against South Warren (24-11), the Lady Aces fell in a 5-0 hole and weren’t able to recover. The two Catholic runs came in the sixth inning. Camille Conkright, Randchelle Johnson and Phelps each singled to start a rally. Phelps drove in Conkright and Johnson scored on a ground out by Simone, but that’s all they could do.

Lexi Hatchett took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 3.2 innings.

The Lady Devils (5-23) ended the regular season with a pair of dominant wins at home. Though they only collected a total of 17 hits, they also drew 17 walks to keep runners on base.

In the first game, Owensboro put up eight runs in the first inning and both teams scored four in the second frame. The Lady Devils added six more in the fourth to end the game early. Starting pitcher Hadley Hughes got the win, allowing one hit in just an inning of work. Brooke Keller threw the last 2.1 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with six strikeouts.

In game two, Owensboro scored 13 runs in the opening frame and another seven in the second to complete the sweep. Aubrie Schueler went the full three innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.

Several players finished with strong days at the plate, including Kaylyn Sowders (3-for-6, 4 runs, 5 RBIs, triple), Aubry Hendricks (2-for3, 5 runs, 3 RBIs, double), Schueler (3-for-3, 4 runs, 3 RBIs, double), Mady Poole (3-for-6, 6 runs, 2 RBIs, double) and Lindsey Gibson (2-for-3, 3 runs, 4 RBIs, triple, double).

BASEBALL RECAP
Owensboro Catholic 7, Webster County 1
A four-hit day from Andrew Wiman helped the Aces (19-14) close out the regular season with a home victory over the Trojans (9-23).

Catholic got three runs in the first inning and slowly built a 7-0 lead before Webster County scored in the seventh inning.

Wiman drove in three runs and scored once himself, while Sam McFarland had a pair of hits and scored three times. They each had a double.

Four pitchers combined for the win, but starter McFarland was credited for the victory. He gave up three hits and struck out three in two innings. The four combined to strike out 11 batters and give up only two walks.
