Tell City, IN 52, Hancock County 35
Traveling to Tell City, Indiana for their second straight game, the Lady Hornets fell short 52-35. Ansley House grabbed 15 rebounds and added 20 points for another double-double, while Madyson Higdon and Carolina Jones combined for 13 boards.
“Ansley House had a big night. We tried to use her both inside and out,” Hancock County head coach Kevin Husk said. “I thought she did a good job rebounding even when she was on the perimeter offensively.”
Owensboro Catholic 64, Madisonville-North Hopkins 30
A day after winning the 3rd Region All-A, the Lady Aces carried over the momentum in their 64-30 home win against Madisonville-North Hopkins. Karmin Riley filled the stat sheet, recording 13 points, three steals one rebound, and one assist. Aubrey Randolph recorded another double-double, grabbing 13 rebounds and adding 11 points.
“I thought we looked a little tired,” Owensboro Catholic head coach Michael Robertson said. “We made quite a few mental mistakes and committed to many turnovers… We need to get back in the gym and get back to work.”
Owensboro 54, Warren East 48
Shalyn Sprinkles scored 12 of her team-high 22 points in the second half to help Owensboro hold off Warren East on the road 54-48. Gizelle Whitlock was second on the team in scoring with nine points, while the trio of Heleina John, Keeley Harris, and Zah’Niyah Board all added seven points.
“We weren’t at full strength tonight, but we had some players off the bench really step up and give some good minutes,” Owensboro head coach Jansen Locher said. “I was happy with our fight and resiliency throughout the game.”
Ohio County 71, Trinity (Whitesville) 44
Preslee Meserve and Sophie Hatfield combined for 20 points as the Lady Raiders fell short to Ohio County on the road. Sarah Payne was second on the team in scoring with nine points, while Sophia Miller added five.
“Tonight, we did a better job of handling the pressure than we did over the break against a few of the teams, but then we struggled to guard them and struggled to put the ball in the hole,” Trinity head coach Emily Hernandez said. “We played aggressively, but we have to play smart aggressively and not continue to foul and put the other team on the line 34 times. It is hard to beat a team that shoots 34 free throws.”
