
Nellie L. “Grammer” Pugh, 93, of Owensboro, passed away on January 9, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on April 5, 1931, to the late Horace B. and Nellie M. Moad.
Nellie worked in the office at Pinkerton Tobacco for more than 15 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, KY Basketball, arts, and crafts, but what she valued most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Pugh, her granddaughter, Tonja Simpson, and her siblings, CW, Russell, Tolphus, and Bill Moad.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Saundra Hinton; her stepdaughter, Vickie (Bing) Michael; her great-grandchildren, Zackery Simpson (fiancé, Tesla) and Cassaundra (Christopher) Brown; nine great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Patty Chrisman; her grandson-in-law, Dewayne Simpson; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
