“It was a tough night, and we could not buy a shot, but I am proud of the guys and their effort tonight,” Apollo head coach Ryne Tinsley said. “We needed a game like this to humble us and to know we have a long way to go.”
Trinity (Whitesville) 59, Hancock County 52

“We started off very slow, didn’t have any energy, and I think we were playing into their hands since they are primarily a zone team,” Trinity head coach Nathan West said. “At halftime, we decided to press and just to get our guys moving and becoming more aggressive, which really changed the energy in the gym. I was proud of the way we battled, and I was proud of the way everyone contributed.”
For Hancock County Alex Madden led the way in scoring with 19 points, while Jaxson Morris hit two threes to go along with his 12 points. As a team, they shot 35% from the field and went 8-15 from the free throw line.
“We didn’t share the ball very well and missed a lot of easy shots inside,” Hancock County head coach Josh Roberts said. “We did a good job on Roby and Aull, but Hernandez killed us. He made big shots and did it down the stretch. I was happy with our effort to stay in the game.”
