A two-day event celebrating the life and legacy of the late bluegrass icon John Hartford — an American folk, country, and bluegrass composer and musician known for his mastery of the fiddle and banjo, as well as for his witty lyrics and unique vocal style — will be held in Owensboro in early 2025.
The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum will host “John Hartford Days” on January 31 and February 1.
The event boasts a successful lineup, including Grammy-winning artist Sam Bush, multi-instrumentalist Mike Compton, and songwriter Jim Lauderdale. Other special guests include Hartford’s son, Jamie Hartford, who will perform in tribute to his father, along with banjoist Alison Brown and bluegrass legend Rodney Dillard of The Dillards.
In addition to live performances, the weekend will include jamming workshops, panel discussions, film screenings, and after-parties. Food trucks will be on site, and a pre-concert lounge will be open each afternoon and evening for attendees. Tickets, priced at $99, cover admission to all scheduled activities and reserved seating for the concerts.
The schedule begins with registration at 10 a.m., followed by workshops at 1 p.m., discussion panels at 2 p.m., and film screenings at 3:30 p.m. Evening festivities include a pre-concert lounge at 5 p.m., opening acts at 6, main performances at 7:15, and after-parties at 9:30.
