
James C. Decker, Sr., 84, of Lewisport, made his final journey home on December 12, 2024 surrounded by family. He was under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. James was born in McQuady, KY on January 11, 1940 to Charlie and Doshie Smith Decker. He married Shirley Goeller Decker on May 16 1959 and was married until her passing on January 18, 2018. James was of the Baptist faith and attended Hancock Christian Church. He started work at NSA/Century in 1970 and after 32 years of service and retired in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and step mother Stella Decker Sims and son in law Ronnie Blan. Brothers Harold, Billy and Danny Decker, sisters Gracie Obenchain, Ruth Smith and Lillian Jones.
Left to mourn his passing, his son, James C Decker, Jr; daughter, Connie (Ralph) Spier; brother, Joe Decker; sisters, Carolyn Preston, Sondra Faught, Patty Dunn and Sherry Patterson; grandsons, Ryan (Julie) James, Danny Blan, James Decker III, Chris Decker, Joey Spier, Brandon Spier and Brad Blan; granddaughters, Ashley Spier and Beth Blan. He leaves behind 18 precious great grands, lots of nieces, nephews and precious friends.
Services are at 1:00 pm Monday, December 16, 2024 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with burial following in Serenity Hills. James’s family will greet friends from 10:00 am until service. The family request all donations be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
