Ron Sweat, Sr., 77, of Owensboro, passed away on December 11, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on January 1, 1947, to the late J.C. and Bertha Sweat.
His loved ones describe Ron as a Jack-of-All-Trades and avid outdoorsman. He retired from Estes Express Lines where he was a Truck Driver, and worked as General Manager at both General Finance in Owensboro & Lincoln Finance in Beaver Dam. Ron was a proud graduate of Daviess County High School, Class of 1965. He attended Owensboro Christian Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #729. In his spare time, he loved talking to his ham radio family and working in his archery shop.
Along with his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his daughter, Kim Lawrence.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Linda Mattingly Sweat, his son, Ron (Pam) Sweat, Jr, his grandchildren, Myles (Linzy), Amber (David), Brittain (Chris), Rachel (Jay), Shaina (Chase), and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Rev Tom Harrigan officiating. Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
