Rev. Gerald H. Elliott, age 83 of Hudson, KY passed away peacefully December 7, 2024, with his family at his side. Gerald was born April 21, 1941, in Hudson, KY to the late Sidney and Sylvia Dennis Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Barnes, her husband Virgil, who was like a brother, and their children Sharron and Terry Barnes. His father and mother-in-law Wavie and Mildred Allen, and a grandson-in-law Lee Johnson, Jr.

Gerald married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Allen Elliott on September 24, 1960, and they were married for 64 years.

He is survived by Ruth Ann of Hudson, KY

Daughter Thereasa (Kerry) Proffitt of Leitchfield, KY

Granddaughter Heather Johnson and Great granddaughter Mahalya Johnson of Richmond, KY

Also surviving is daughter Regina (Tony) DeCaro of LaGrange, KY and her sons Michael and Joshua Aldridge of Owensboro, KY

He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry (Pam) Allen, Luther (Pam) Allen and Ralph Allen as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gerald was a lifelong farmer in the Hudson area. He raised hogs, corn and tobacco, but his love was beef cattle and his dogs. He enjoyed hunting, buying, selling and trading cattle and guns. Ruth and the girls never knew what he might bring home! He was a hardworking man and got such joy from pleasing his family. He absolutely was a wonderful husband and father. He founded and ran Elliott Gate Shop for 20 plus years.

Rev. Elliott gave his life to Christ on an old log road on his farm in October 1981. In November 1985, he announced his call to preach the Word of God. He pastored several churches, with the longest being 16 years at Trinity Full Gospel which he helped to found. It was his great joy to preach the word and bring others to Christ. He loved the members of the church and especially the children.

Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 3 – 7 PM and Thursday after 8 AM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11 AM with burial in the Hudson Cemetery.

Rev. Elliott’s favorite Bible verse was James 4:8. “Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you”. He quoted this verse often in his messages and conversation. The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Smith, Breckinridge Memorial Hospital, Springview Nursing and Rehab and Hosparus of Kentucky for their wonderful care and family support during his battle with Dementia and Parkinsons.
