Sondra Kay Carter, 57, of Owensboro passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born April 10, 1962 in London, KY to the late Estelle and Mescal Maggard Howard. She had worked as a switchboard operator at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for 22 years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and going to yard sales and flea markets. But most of all, she loved spending time with her granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, John David Carter, Jr. in 2016; and a brother, Timothy Howard.
Survivors include her sons, Joe Carter (LaDonna) and Cameron Carter (Samantha); two granddaughters, Emma Grace Carter and Zoey Isabelle Carter; brothers, Jerry, William Curtis and Estelle Craig Howard; and sisters, Wanda Hoskins and Rhonda Roark.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
