Mary Teresa Hayden passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on November 22, 2024. She was born Mary Teresa Powers on February 7, 1931, the 10th of 12 children to Joseph Hubert Powers, Sr and Teresa Margaret Powers. Married on July 13, 1957, she was the loving wife of Donald Earl Hayden for 67 years. She was a wonderful mother to seven children and a devout member of her Catholic faith at Immaculate Church. The daily recitation of the Rosary was one testament to her strong faith.
Mary Teresa was an exceptional seamstress and in addition, honored her children and grandchildren by lovingly constructing Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls. Her children, family, and friends were blessed with the most delicious homemade cakes, breads, and wonderful meals; every dish she made with love. She was a generous person, giving of her time and talents to people in need. Included in some of her many talents were baking, canning, singing in the church choir, sewing, and ballroom dancing with her husband Don. She was an active member of several organizations within the Immaculate Parish Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings – Joseph H. Powers Jr., Mary Agnes Powers, Robert A. Powers, Patricia Garvin, Fr. Aloysius Powers, Elizabeth Lattus, Msgr. Bernard Powers, Martha Taylor, Celine Kahalley, and Fr. Richard Powers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Donald Earl Hayden and her children Dr. Patrick Kevin (Megan) of Russellville, KY, Joseph Thomas (Joan) of Owensboro, KY, Mary Monica of Newnan, GA, Paul Aloysius (Connie) of St. Louis, MO, Martin William (Tracy) of Edgewood, KY, Teresa Anne of Owensboro, KY and David Matthew (Mimi) of St. Louis, MO, 19 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her loving sister Maddalena Leach, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
